OUR STORY
The Beta Sigma Chapter was chartered on Friday, February 28, 1936 and brought to the campus of Southern University, Scotlandville, LA on Monday March 9, 1936 under the direction of Orville Mosely, J. Frank Smith, and Albert W. Dent. The charter line of 10 neophytes crossed on Friday, Friday, Februrary 7, 1936. The Beta Sigma Chapter was the 48th chapter to enter the great folds of Omega Psi Phi and is also the third oldest chapter in the 9th District which includes the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Beta Sigma has produced many outstanding young men of the very highest ideals and intellect and have also recieved much praise for their service to mankind. To this date, there are many people whose lives have been touched by the men of Beta Sigma.
Since the chapter’s inception, Beta Sigma has been known for what it is. No chapter name enhancements, no non-ritualistic brothers, etc… Just real men who commercialise the good spirit of Omega, while magnifying the emphasis of “EIGHT.”
We are known by many names: Ques, Da Bruhs, and Omega Men just to name a few. But, no matter what you call us, we want you to remember:
“IT’S NO LIE & IT’S NO STIGMA THAT THE QUES ARE MIGHTY HARD AT BETA SIGMA“
